Patch

Good Morning everyone, I can't believe it's so long since I posted a card..... but we have been really busy with the kitchen, it's almost at an end now, just the tiling and kick boards, but they come with there own problems too as the floor isn't completely level, it's sorting out the problem area's that takes the time!... Anyway on to my card for today.... it's bursting with wonderful wishes for my granddaughter Candice who was fourteen at the beginning of the month.... where does the time go!! I have used a LOTV art pad, these are so handy no colouring required lol!!.. I made this card a couple of months ago, as I knew I would be rushing as her birthday is so close to Christmas.. Candice really liked it especially the inside, as there was a little pocket with a nice surprise inside lol!!

The Inside

This card came together so well, the gorgeous papers are 'Country Lady' by Mary Fran, image is from Art Pad 2, sentiments are 'Every day Grundgy Messages' and 'Quoteables - Celebrate' all from LOTV.  I also used La La Land heart die and a Die-namics border, Joy Flower die and a Doo-hickey swirl die and heart die.. gold mesh ribbon (ribbon girl)  which you can't see too well as it's in the middle of the patchwork paper.. pearls, sparkly brads and believe it or not stickles on the candle flames and little smartie's and icing on the cake, but it doesn't show up on the photo's at all... distressed all the papers and card with Tim Holtz Vintage photo ink.. hope you like it.

Oh Christmas Tree

Good Morning everyone.. at last I have managed take a photo of my Christmas card, in-between work, kitchen DIY and housework lol!! Debs and  I also managed to get to the Dome in Doncaster on Sunday for Paulas 'Stamp Magic' show ... I didn't buy very much just a couple of essentials.. what am I saying everything I buy is essential lol!!! , I did feel a bit guilty leaving David with the kitchen, but it was nice just for a couple of hours to have a browse and a cup of coffee with my best friend.. my lovely daughter:).   I met up with Carole another fellow crafter, a really nice lady who I met at the LOTV shop earlier in the year and we've kept in touch via email and have met up at a couple of shows we've been too, it was lovely to have a chat:)... anyway on to my card... it's a LOTV image called 'Oh Christmas Tree' and I coloured it with my distress pens, I do looove these pens as blending is so easy with them..I'm itching now to get some more colouring done lol!!  A bit of a photo overload I'm afraid...

I thoroughly enjoyed making this card... I heat embossed the card, poinsettia and leaf edges in gold.  I also heat embossed around the edge of the tag...  I added glamour dust to the fur hat and coat edges, and used stickles stardust on the snow (a little tip from Anne xx).  I faux stitched around the edge of the image which was coloured with distress markers and a little prisma pencil.  I used my new doohickey heart tag.. ( I think everyone in blog land has one of these now lol!!) but it is soooo lovely:)  I added ribbon, gold lace, pearls and a pearl brad for the centre of the poinsettia.  The lovely memory box star is one of my favourites at the moment! Papers are 'Merry Little Christmas' by Marianne.

Wild Flowers

Good morning all, where does the time go to?... We are busy replacing our kitchen at the moment, David and I decided to do it ourselves as the fitting costs were astronomical, and I am also working extra hours at work so no time to sit and relax lol!!  I did go to the Harrogate show though a couple of weeks ago... Debs and I had a fabulous time and bought some lovely goodies...  I managed to get my hands on the new paper pads from LOTV they really are gorgeous, and they can also be used for other occasions not just Christmas, so good all rounders:) I watched a lovely demonstration on embossing and can't wait to have a go with my new embossing powders, also picked a few tips up on stamping and inking. It makes all the difference when you are shown the correct way on how to use the tools you have!
I still haven't managed to take photo's of my cards I made with my distress inks, as the kitchen is taking up a lot of time and energy.. I think projects like this make you realize you are not as young as you were lol!!! But we are getting there and it will be worth it in the end:)

A peek at the inside

I made this card for Debs birthday, the image is from LOTV's art pads and I have used frantage on the sides. The little tags are also from LOTV . The paper is called 'Pretty in Pink' by Glitz. I distressed all the edges with Tim Holtz distress ink, sorry I can't remember what colour I used now, I think it was Victorian Velvet.... the layout is a 'paper take weekly' sketch, which I was going to enter, then missed the deadline lol!!  There is a lovely new challenge also starting at The Ribbon Girl for Lili of the Valley products, so click here and have a look.. happy crafting:)..

Jack, Patch and Puss!

Good morning everyone!  Wow! can't believe it's been so long since I posted.  Just busy at work and also I have been playing in my craft room lol!!  I have been experimenting with my new distress markers and I love, love, love them lol!!  Debs and I went to LOTV shop a couple of Saturdays ago.. (Wow! where does the time go!)  had a fabulous day and bought lots of new goodies, including some watercolour paper, which is really lovely to use.  I watched the lovely Lou demonstrating she is such a lovely lady and so helpful...she helped me with shading around the image, which I struggle with... but with the distress markers it's easy peasy lol!!  I don't have a card with my new markers today as I still have to photograph etc... but I have one I made with the new art pads from LOTV that I made for a friends daughter.. now I'm just in love with these little characters 'Jack, Patch and Puss', and have now bought a few of the stamps as well!..  I made the flowers and distressed with Tim Holtz distress inks, also I inked the lovely lace at the bottom it was white and I didn't have a colour to match, think it turned out quiet nice.

Angels With Crib

Hello everyone, well here I am back from my hols... it doesn't seem five minutes since I was preparing to go!!  We all had such a lovely time, and Europe is so beautiful, we went to some fabulous places will put some pictures on as soon as I can.  We had lots of drama though before we even got on the ferry, as we pulled into the terminal, the timing belt on the Land Rover snapped!!  it's not often you see a Landy being carried back on a tow truck!! to cut a long story short David managed to get it up and running the next day, after a lot of highs and lows as to whether we would be able to go or not!  Well my dear hubby did us proud and we managed to have a wonderful time:)
It's been hectic at work since I got back, as the other girls have been taking there leave too... I have managed to dabble a little in my craft room and have made a Christmas Card... yes it will soon be here lol!!

I won this lovely image last year from LOTV and have never inked it up, it's called 'Angels with Crib' and I'm so glad I saved it to try with my new Distress Inks from Tim Holtz...Yes.. I have bought some! and I just love them, I think I may have found something I enjoy colouring with as much as my Prima Pencils lol!! I've still got a LOT too learn!  I went on utube and watched Tim Holtz and a few other lovely crafters use them, this was one of many attempts with them lol!! You definatly have to have the right card and so I sent for some Tim Holtz watercolour card which seems to work very well..  I've taken some photo's of my first attempts.. you can see that smooth card didn't really work for me with these inks. On some of the card the ink even run!  The last photo was a cheaper watercolour paper, but it didn't let me work for too long before it started to break up.

The first three were on smooth card

This one I tried shading with copics but they made the distress ink
run, also the inks didn't blend the same on the card

On this card the ink actually run, and I did use archival ink

This was a little better but I couldn't blend very well,
it was a cheaper watercolour card probably not the
right weight, when I wet it it a couple of times it broke up.

As you can see I didn't have a lot of success, but once I got the right card I was amazed how easy they were, I was a bit put off by the pink at this stage, so tried a different colour lol!! I do like the intensity of colour you get... I am well impressed with them and can't wait to colour up another image!!

The gorgeous papers are by 'Marianne' and are called 'Old-Fashioned Christmas' I also used Gold Bazzill card, and the lovely star in the corner is a Memory Box Die called 'Special Stars' I gave it the treatment with Stickles Gold.  The ribbon is from Germany, I tried a different way of attaching it and left it free style, but I think I prefer it tucked in!

I would just like to say I bought my pens and paper from 'Country View Crafts' it was FREE postage and my word the delivery was so quick, I think they must have had Santa's little elves working with them lol!!

Good morning all, a very quick post from me this morning, rushing around like a mad woman lol!!  I have been so busy at work and with my Mum, I haven't had time for blogging, but I had to make a wedding card for my hubby's mate at work..   Beware Photo overload lol!!!

Sorry the photos are not brilliant but I was up till late trying to finish everything off, I was lucky to get some photo's at all... they do look a bit blurry to me lol!!!

I have used the lovely image from LOTV called Mr. and Mrs, it's one of there cut out squares and so handy.. the lovely embellishments on her veil and bouquet are from Cloes, they are like little beads, they really are gorgeous.  Wild Orchid Flowers, Ribbon from the Ribbon Girl, lovely pearls from Mei Flower.
I made the box out of pearlescent card,  I could have done so much more but was in too much of a hurry:( Oh I mustn't forget the lovely Shabby pink embossing frantage I could of gone on and on with this lovely stuff lol!!

We are going on holiday tomorrow to Germany ( I finally get to see my grandson Yeh!! ) and then all of us are having a fabulous trip to Croatia.. we are driving and have a couple of stop overs on the way one in the Austrian Alps for 4 days and one in a place called Bled for three days.... then on to Croatia for a whole week with beaches and lovely water and hopefully some warm weather!!...

Hitching A Ride....

Good morning everyone,
My card today is for my brother John, he loves his bike and keeps wanting to take me for a spin on the back!!  I think this is the closest I am going to get on the back of any motor bike lol!!!  I have used this lovely image from Johanna Sheen which I coloured with my Prisma Pencils.   I think I might of gone a bit over board on the Tim Holtz distress inks!  I am trying to think outside of the box a little and not be too scared to be a little more daring with myself, if you know what I mean lol!!  I have also used my curved border die again.. I just love it and have been experimenting with different options.  I think this is one of my favourite dies at the moment, it can give such lovely effects.

 A peek at the inside

The papers are the fabulous 'Wellington' pack again, I can honestly say these papers have just been the best ever buy! the twine and little motor bike are from my stash, I think they were from the hobby house.. not sure as you pick up so many bits and pieces and then forget where you bought them lol!!

My First Tag!

Good morning everyone, I made this little tag for my grandson who lives in Germany, I haven't seen much of him this year with Mum having her operation, so sent him a little pressie with this attached:)..

This is the reverse side

I have really missed seeing him, and can't wait for next month as we are all going away together Yeh!! can't wait!

For this little tag I used the Art Pad Set 2 (Pre coloured - Jack, Patch & Puss) from LOTV, this has come in so handy for me, as I haven't had much time for colouring, and I love the little tag sentiments! I cut out the image and raised it up a little with sticky squares, and edged it with a jelly roll glitter pen, which doesn't show up to well. I matted some blue dotted paper from my new paper pad 'Nit Wit Collections' by Mary Fran called 'Candles and Cake' also from LOTV, and wrapped some red twine around the tag for some texture... also added a die cut star and put a red star gem in the centre... and the red heart ribbon I got from a show.
This is my very first tag, and I'm quiet pleased how it turned out! hope you like it!

Paula always puts on a great show... had to have myself some more of the new stamps at LOTV and today I am using one of the new Sentiment Stamps I bought... and eeek!!! a CAS card.. when I was making it I felt like those youngsters on the Haribo advert, if you don't eat the sweetie you can have another one, and there all looking at it and wanting to eat it, even sitting on there hands so they don't touch it, that was me.... I admire the girls that make these beautiful CAS cards and make them look Stunning with just a little touch of this or that!

It's a lovely stamp from LOTV  called 'Never to old for cupcake...

I was in such a rush to give this to her, that I only took one photo, and it's not that brilliant either!! I coloured her with my Prisma Pencils and the paper was so pretty I didn't want to hide it with another layer. The pad was 'Spring Drop' by 'First Edition' I made the two little flowers in the corner from some lace I had and put a coloured brad in the centre. The lovely pearls are from the 'Hobby House', The gorgeous lace was a present from the lovely Kat at 'Krafty Kat Designs', and the flowers are from 'Wild Orchid Designs'. Kenny K - Tommy Leen

Good morning everyone, I can't believe it's almost four months since I last posted!!  My Mum has had her operation and is doing very well:)  Lots of ups and downs over the last few months but we are getting there:)

I have stepped down at Make it Monday, as I didn't know how long it would be before I was back up and running properly. Also Mum's eyes are getting worse, she has AMD and needs a little more help with certain things, so I don't have the same time as I had before.  The girls on the team were fabulous and I'll miss all the banter on the team blog, as they all had a fabulous sense of humour!!

I haven't had much time for crafting, but have managed to make one card which is for my brother's birthday, I've also been wondering around blog land and it's making me want to get stuck in now lol!!

This is the inside, I just love those little tags from LOTV

Isn't this image by Kenny K smashing!.. my brother is worried about the amount of candles that his cake has to have now lol!! so I have made this card so he can reminisce about his youth, as he used to play the drums when he was younger! I bet he wishes he had all that hair now lol!!
The papers went with my theme fabulously going back in time! they are a lovely pad called 'Wellington' I have used this pad several times and need to get another one now!  The little tag sentiments are from LOTV I just love them, and the little notes was a cheap punch I bought from a craft show long ago... I think they are quiet nice.  My image was coloured in with Prisma Pencils and I used copics for the skin, still trying to learn how to use them lol!!  My music sheet is also a LOTV stamp, have been dying to use it for ages!

I've found a few challenges I would like to enter

I will never be able to colour this in but I really enjoyed doing it and it all came together so well as Kenny gives so much detail and shows you where to highlight etc.  What I did do was print it on to a A4 sized piece of paper and enlarged the image so I could see all the details properly as I struggle a little with my eyes and can't always see what goes where lol!! So when I was colouring the smaller image I knew what was what lol!!  He is one magnificent mean machine isn't he lol!!! .. I do mean the image lol!!
