Angels With Crib

Hello everyone, well here I am back from my hols... it doesn't seem five minutes since I was preparing to go!!  We all had such a lovely time, and Europe is so beautiful, we went to some fabulous places will put some pictures on as soon as I can.  We had lots of drama though before we even got on the ferry, as we pulled into the terminal, the timing belt on the Land Rover snapped!!  it's not often you see a Landy being carried back on a tow truck!! to cut a long story short David managed to get it up and running the next day, after a lot of highs and lows as to whether we would be able to go or not!  Well my dear hubby did us proud and we managed to have a wonderful time:)
It's been hectic at work since I got back, as the other girls have been taking there leave too... I have managed to dabble a little in my craft room and have made a Christmas Card... yes it will soon be here lol!!

I won this lovely image last year from LOTV and have never inked it up, it's called 'Angels with Crib' and I'm so glad I saved it to try with my new Distress Inks from Tim Holtz...Yes.. I have bought some! and I just love them, I think I may have found something I enjoy colouring with as much as my Prima Pencils lol!! I've still got a LOT too learn!  I went on utube and watched Tim Holtz and a few other lovely crafters use them, this was one of many attempts with them lol!! You definatly have to have the right card and so I sent for some Tim Holtz watercolour card which seems to work very well..  I've taken some photo's of my first attempts.. you can see that smooth card didn't really work for me with these inks. On some of the card the ink even run!  The last photo was a cheaper watercolour paper, but it didn't let me work for too long before it started to break up.

The first three were on smooth card

This one I tried shading with copics but they made the distress ink
run, also the inks didn't blend the same on the card

On this card the ink actually run, and I did use archival ink

This was a little better but I couldn't blend very well,
it was a cheaper watercolour card probably not the
right weight, when I wet it it a couple of times it broke up.

As you can see I didn't have a lot of success, but once I got the right card I was amazed how easy they were, I was a bit put off by the pink at this stage, so tried a different colour lol!! I do like the intensity of colour you get... I am well impressed with them and can't wait to colour up another image!!

The gorgeous papers are by 'Marianne' and are called 'Old-Fashioned Christmas' I also used Gold Bazzill card, and the lovely star in the corner is a Memory Box Die called 'Special Stars' I gave it the treatment with Stickles Gold.  The ribbon is from Germany, I tried a different way of attaching it and left it free style, but I think I prefer it tucked in!

I would just like to say I bought my pens and paper from 'Country View Crafts' it was FREE postage and my word the delivery was so quick, I think they must have had Santa's little elves working with them lol!!
